Review: Saw 3D

grade: 1/7 (this is NOT how a movie should be)

So. I loved the first Saw movie. I really did. It was fresh, it was cool and disturbing in the same sense as Se7en (1995) was.

And probably the most inspiring and creative thing about Saw (2001) was the ending that suprises EVERYONE. You just could not guess how it would end. It was a magic twist that blew the competion out of the waters.

That being said, some producers thought of the idea to make money by making sequels. Now, I don't mind sequels. I love sequels. There is always a nagging sense of wanting to know more about the characters.

The sequels never matched the first one (no big surprise there). But they sort of worked. They were logical in their way of making more impressive twists.

But during the sequals the gore got heavier and heavier. And it was no longer about intresting traps, but more about blod, and gore. And that kind of ruined the franchise for me. I think after part 3, the rest of the saw movies basically sucked.

Now this one is the final Saw movie (THANK GOD!)

It is called Saw 3D, but in all honesty it is part 7.

Now you can expect more gore than ever before (ooo, that rhymed).

And two things that made me want to see it, was first that you got to see Dr Gordon again (a character from the first movie that you have kind of been annoyed not knowing what happened to him.)

And the second thing was that this movie had Chester Bennington from Linkin Park in it. I read that Chester had even taken drama classes for his role here.

A number one rule of reviews is to not ruin the movie. But, to be completely honest, there is really nothing to ruin here. The ending doesn't make the slightest sense. I just don't understand how they could pay some writer for the script to this one.

Honestly, was there really no more creative ways to include dr Gordon in the twist?

I normally tell a little bit about the story for a movie that I review, but here I just don't see what good that would do, since the story is so uninspiring. I will break down for you never the less. "people die from Saw traps, and..."

Well thats pretty much it. No big change. No real dilemmas. The cops try to catch the killer. The killer tries to... I don't even know anymore what the he wants.

I have been reviewing movies for the last 5 years (on Moviemix.nu), and you should know that I have never put such a low grade on a movie before. I usually see something magical about every B-movie I have seen. But this movie just didn't do it for me one way or the other.
