The man who admitted to killing dozens of innocent people in two terror attacks has made his first court appearance today behind closed doors as ruled by High Judge Kim Heger.

Mass murderer,32-year-old Norwegian Anders Behring Breivik killed at least 93 people after he spent years planning the Oslo car bombing and massacre on the small of Utoya where more than 700 campers were based.

Today at 1200 (1000 GMT) a minute’s silence was held in Norway to remember the tragic victims of Breivik’s murdering campaign.

Brievik revealed before the court hearing that he would explain his “gruesome but necessary” actions to the court, and while he has admitted to the killings the police believe that he has not accepted any criminal responsibility for them.

The gunman faces a maximum sentence of 21-years imprisonment if convicted but it could be extended in the event that the prisoner is considered a further threat to the public.
