Okay, this is my top 10 of funniest movies ever.
When I did this list of funny movies there were some movies that I had to exclude, because as they once seemed super funny, they were just not as funny anymore. I was a shame not to include the movie Happy Gilmore and Major Payne. But these movies on my list are sort of “forever funny”. These are classics basically.
Top 10 (starting from the last on the list)
10 Meet the parents (2000)
This is sort of a mellow drama, but with a lot of funny jokes. It is about a guy (Ben stiller) who is over to meet his girlfriends parents over the weekend. And basically anything and everything that can go wrong, goes completely disastrous. Robert DeNiro is great as the father who does not approve of his daughter’s boyfriend.
Favorite scene/line/joke: “I have nipples Greg, can you milk me?”
09 Tropic thunder (2008)
I think this is probably the most expensive comedy ever done. Because it has a list of high priced actors, and lots of special effects. If you haven’t seen it yet, you should. So many jokes, and great actors, that I don’t know where to start. Ben Stiller is great, but mostly because of the simple jack trailer (that I think they should turn into a real movie). Robert Downey Junior got himself a oscar nomination for his role, as a “dude playing a dude disguised as another dude”. Jack Black was good, but as much as I love Jack Black, I don’t think his character was well written. (I am just saying it could have been better). The movie is about a group of actors who think they are recording a movie about Vietnam, when they are actually in a real battle field with drug lords. Tom Cruise is hysterical as producer.

08 Pure luck (1991)
This has FINALLY been released on DVD. It is one of those classic comedies that never made it big. But it is really funny. Danny Glover is a detective who is to find someone daughter (who is extremely unlucky). So He takes Martin Short with him, someone who is just as unlucky. And together they try to find her. It is just so much fun watching these two together.
Favorite scene/line/joke: Every time Danny Gloves becomes angry because bad luck strikes them.
07 Major League (1989)
This is a basic and classic baseball comedy about a team of baseball players. They have been put together by the owner of Cleveland Indians, who wants the team to finish dead last (so she can sell the team and move to Miami). Charlie Sheen, Wesley Snipes, Tom Berenger are some of early actors in their careers. Every player has a talent but a even bigger disadvantage. And the team tries to work together.
Favorite scene/line/joke: Charlie Sheens character “wild thing”. He is the coolest baseball player ever.
06 Blades of glory (2007)
Will Ferrell gives a super funny performance as ice skater Chazz Michael Michaels. And Jon Heder as his side kick Jimmy MacElroy. It is a movie about two figure skaters who have to overcome their hate towards each other, to enter a pair figure skater tournament. And the result is gloriously funny.
Favorite scene/line/joke:
Chazz: they Laughed at Louis Armstrong when he said he was going to the moon. Now he is up there, laughing at them.
05 Liar Liar (1997)
Some people (a lot) don’t like Jim Carrey. I don’t blame them, and yet, I can’t forgive them. Hehe.
This is a movie about a lawyer who one day can’t lie, which becomes a disaster in his life. There is just NOBODY who could have pulled off this movie the way Jim Carrey does. He delivers joke after joke. And I think this movie is just super fantastic, hands down, his best movie.
Favorite scene/line/joke: Jim Carey trying to convince himself that his blue pen is actually red.
04 Young Frankenstein (1974)
This used to be my absolute favorite comedy of all times. It is so genius. The script, and characters and spoofs. It has some rather complicated jokes, that are amazing, but it may take some thinking power to understand them. This is basically a parody of Frankenstein. About Frankensteins grandson (Gene Wilder), who inherits his grand fathers castle. Peter Boyle is amazing as the “monster”, and Marty Feldman is also great as Igor. Gene Hackman has a small but briljant scene as a blind man who meets the monster. Hilarious. Personally I think Gene Wilder should have gotten a Academy award. He was just so intense in his role.
Favorite scene/line/joke: Walk this way scene (the scene that ACTUALLY inspired Aerosmith to make a hit song called Walk this way!)
03 Bad Santa (2003)
Oh where to begin. The whole concept of the movie is Bill Bob Thornton playing a terrible drunk person who works as a Santa at Christmas time. He swears a lot, he is cruel, he is a thief. And he works with a midget, sorry, I mean little person (Tony Cox). It starts out pretty bad, and it is hard to feel sympathy for him, and after a while you sort of care for him. He makes new friends (Bernie Mac, Lauren Graham and John Ritter), and life just takes a turn. It is very funny, but forgive me, most of the jokes are combined with a lot of swearing. There are so many interesting combinations of dirty words. Make sure you watch the uncut version.
Favorite scene/line/joke:
Willie: Well you can wish in one hand, and shit in the other. See which one will fill up first.
02 Talladega nights: The ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006)
Talladega is without a doubt Will ferrells funniest movie. The whole movie is filled with jokes and a sense of humor that feels fresh, since the movies red line is making fun with American culture. They way stereo typical Americans think and behave. It is original since, they are basically making fun of themselves. Not taking life so seriously. And Sasha Baron Cohen, is so funny as the French gay Furmula one driver Jean Girard. Best part of the movie is the “dumb and dumber” combo of Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. Make sure you see the uncut version.
Favorite scene/line/joke:
Ricky Bobby: Wow, I feel like I’m the Highlander.
Jean Girard: What is the Highlander?
Ricky Bobby: it’s a movie. It won the Academy Award.
Jean Girard: oh, for what?
Ricky Bobby: Best movie ever.
01 King pin (1996)
Okey, so this the the nr 1, the funniest movie ever. I have seen it so many times. And it doesn’t get any less funny over the years. The jokes are classics. The story is simple, about a Amish bowler(!). But the story has so many gems. Funny characters. And the whole movie is just so cruel to its main characters.
Favorite scene/line/joke: "Who are you calling a looser?"
